UiTM students crowns Gawai Beauty Queen

NINETEEN-year-old Jacqueline Ayong was crowned Gawai Dayak Beauty Queen for the Tarat state constituency on Saturday, May 25. Jacqueline, was one of the nine girls who made it to the finals of the beauty contest held in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak celebration which falls on June 1 and 2. She was presented a trophy, hamper and certificate of participation by the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Datuk Roland Sagah, who is also the Tarat State Assemblyman. Jacqueline, who is currently studying for her diploma in accountancy at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Kota Samarahan campus comes from Kampung Pruman Simpok Leah Abigail Ricky, 21, grabbed the title of first-runner-up. She received RM500, a trophy, a hamper and a certificate of participation from Sagah. Leah who comes from Kampung Mundai is also currently studying for her diploma in accountancy in UiTM. Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Civil engineering student Donna Sikanok was crowned second runner up receiving RM300, a trophy, a hamper and a certificate of participation.
